WhatsApp Status Not Showing to All Contacts? How to Fix It

If some contacts never see your status, the cause is usually your privacy settings, or they have not saved your number. Here are the checks to run.

Published 28 October 2026

1. Check your status privacy

Open WhatsApp, go to Settings, then Privacy, then Status. You will see three options: My contacts, My contacts except, and Only share with. If you chose "My contacts except" or "Only share with", some people are left out. Choose "My contacts" if you want everyone to see you, and check that no one is on the "except" list by mistake.

2. Check that they have saved your number

Your status usually only reaches people who have saved your number. Ask them to save it. It also helps if you have saved theirs, because status sharing generally works both ways.

3. Check that the number is right

If someone saved your number with a missing digit or a typing mistake, WhatsApp can not match it to your account. Ask them to look at the number they saved and compare it to yours.

4. They may have muted you

People can mute your status updates. They will not see you at the top of their list, and many will forget to open it. You can not see who has muted you, so the best fix is better posts and good timing.

5. Contact sync problems

6. Update WhatsApp

An old version can behave badly. Update from Google Play or the App Store.

7. They may have blocked you

A person who blocked you will not see your status at all. There is nothing you can fix on your side.

After you add new contacts

If you just imported a contact file, give it a few minutes, then refresh your contacts. Need help? Read how to import a contact gain VCF file. If views are still low, check how many contacts you really need.
